Principles of Zion, Part VI

Personal Ambition, the Spirit, Prayer

Do the absolute best a man or woman can do in life. Let your righteousness be steadfast
and unconditional.

Be a visionary with a thousand talents.

Be one with the Spirit. Be the impossible. Do the impossible (JRE Link, 2017-0526 (Fri), COM-STR2).

Be a miracle to the world, sharing your life example and gifts of God with mankind. As
such, you will be of great benefit to the Church.

Be a measured person in life, but remember that our Heavenly Father has aspirations of
greatness for all of His children. Make big things happen in the world. Stand up and lead (JRE Link, 2017-0413 (Thu), COM-STR2).

Break the mold of conventional wisdom. Surpass normal expectations. Bring forward all
the good things you are doing today into the ideal of Zion (JRE Link, 2017-0411 (Tue), COM-STR2).

Don't try to be a celebrity. Let your star power come by leading an exemplary life.

The personal ambitions of Latter-day Saints in America, and throughout the world, need
to change (JRE Link, 2019-0715 (Mon), COM-STR2).

Being a Hollywood celebrity, a sports star, a prominent politician in one's state or in the
nation's capital, a famous singer or composer, a professor with many published books and
articles, a doctor, a lawyer, an engineer, a journalist, a fashion designer, a home builder, a
business CEO, a super-rich entrepreneur, and so forth––all of these are wonderful careers, of
course, and a means by which the world sees members of the Church, of all walks of life, excel
in their careers. But the Lord needs something much greater from us.

Let the Spirit help you to become a difference-maker in the world. Let the spiritual goals
of the gospel be the driving force in your chosen career. Like Ammon, show forth miracles in the
workplace, inspiring your coworkers, and leading them more fully to Christ. Like Joseph of
Egypt, you start off perhaps at the bottom of the employment food chain, but then through faith,
obedience to God, and daily insight from the Holy Ghost, you are raised up the food chain to
greatness by the Lord, becoming extremely valuable to the organization to which you belong.

This is the Lord’s plan for your career development, a way to “succeed in business without even
trying."

It would have been sad had Mozart not been born and had not done all of those wonderful
things. What about you? What incredible things can you do in the world? (JRE Link, 2017-0714 (Fri), COM-STR2)

The restored gospel is your platform for greatness—at work, at school, and in the home.

You are free to be who you want to be, or free to be who the Lord wants you to be (JRE Link, 2017-0329 (Wed), COM-STR2).

Live the life to which you were foreordained. There is no greater life than the one you
live for the Lord.

You can be part of the world, or you can overcome the world. Your children can aspire to
worldly things or aspire to heavenly things (JRE Link, 2017-0506 (Sat), COM-STR2).

Experiencing joy in the gospel throughout your life is not a waste of time.

Enduring to the end is not a waste of time.

Obtaining eternal life is not a waste of time.

Go the distance....

We can't accept the truth of the restored gospel because we have personal opinions. We
want to play out our own ideas about life and religious faith to see where they lead us.

So much for the truth. So much for eternal life (JRE Link, 2017-0518 (Thu), COM-STR2).

Making use of one's free agency is one thing. Being led by the Spirit is another (JRE Link, 2017-0121 (Sat), COM-STR2).

The Spirit does not override our agency. He does plead with us nonetheless (JRE Link, 2017-0405 (Wed), COM-STR2).

Adore the Spirit. The gospel will become even sweeter in your life.

Start out every morning with the fire of the Spirit (JRE Link, 2017-0218 (Sat), COM-STR2).

Seek after a greater endowment of the Spirit in your daily life (JRE Link, 2017-0518 (Thu), COM-STR2).

The Spirit offers us a way forward, a way to overcome sadness (JRE Link, 2016-1227 (Tue), COM-STR2).

The Spirit fills our hearts with joy––eternal joy. How glorious are the mysteries of
godliness and the riches of eternity! (JRE Link, 2016-1227 (Tue), COM-STR2)

The Spirit quickens body and soul (JRE Link, 2017-0316 (Thu), COM-STR2).

The Spirit quickens the beauty and power of the scriptures (JRE Link, 2017-0316 (Thu), COM-STR2).

Without the Spirit, reading the scriptures is less fulfilling and learning the gospel is slow (JRE Link, 2017-0514 (Sun), COM-STR2).

The Spirit is comforting. The Spirit is your closest friend (JRE Link, 2018-0220 (Tue), COM-STR2).

The Spirit tells you who you are––a child of God (JRE Link, 2018-0412 (Thu), COM-STR2).

The Spirit is what holds us together as families and as a Church (JRE Link, 2017-0327 (Mon), COM-STR2).

The Spirit will lead us to victory in life (JRE Link, 2017-0422 (Sat), COM-STR2).

The Spirit comes to us from the throne of God. Yearn to be in the presence of our
Heavenly Father and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, being consumed by Their love. This is
prayer (JRE Link, 2016-1227 (Tue), COM-STR2).

Learn to pray by the power of the Holy Ghost.

Learn to pray with unspeakable joy in your heart (JRE Link, 2017-0102 (Mon), WSE-MAIN).

Cry to the Lord with tears of joy. Gratitude to God is sweet to the soul (JRE Link, 2017-0917 (Sun), COM-STR2).

Cry like a prophet. Mourn for those who suffer. Weep for the souls who don't repent (JRE Link, 2017-0516 (Tue), COM-STR2).

Lift your heart in prayer. Pray to be heard in the heavens (JRE Link, 2016-1211 (Sun), COM-STR2).

Show forth love unto me in your prayers. Ask for charity.

Prayer is a state of rest––the pure peace of Christ (JRE Link, 2017-0316 (Thu), COM-STR2).

Pray yourself to sleep every night. Let the Holy Ghost be your Comforter (JRE Link, 2017-0316 (Thu), COM-STR2).

Don't talk. Listen in your heart for the Spirit. Allow the Lord to teach you.

There are no greater words than the words of God. With God, love is always the headline (JRE Link, 2017-0223 (Thu), COM-STR2).

Ponder the words of God, and you will be swept up in truth (JRE Link, 2017-0324 (Fri), COM-STR2).

Look to the heavens and address your Heavenly Father humbly in serious prayer––O
God, the Eternal Father, I ask Thee in the name of Thy Son, Jesus Christ.

God the Father––The great Organizer, Establisher, Father (JRE Link, 2013-0313 (Wed), WSE-MAIN).

And it is this very Lord––Jesus Christ, the Son of God––not some other. Pray to the
Father in His name.

To pray is to worship (JRE Link, 2016-1030 (Sun), WSE-MAIN).

To pray is also to listen.

Be believing. Praying is believing (JRE Link, 2017-0121 (Sat), WSE-MAIN).

Prayer shows kindness to God (JRE Link, 2016-1211 (Sun), COM-STR2).

A praying relationship. Prayer is a relationship (JRE Link, 2017-1121 (Tue), WSE-MAIN).

Prayer is the starting point of righteous works (JRE Link, 2016-1211 (Sun), COM-STR2).

Those who pray are those who will repent, find peace, and earn salvation.

Humble, sincere prayer opens the door to truth (JRE Link, 2017-0518 (Thu), COM-STR2).

Anyone who loves to pray must be a happy person (JRE Link, 2014-1216 (Tue), WSE-MAIN).

To pray earnestly, and with feeling, is to be filled with love.

Knock and it shall be opened. Pray and you shall be filled with joy (JRE Link, 2017-0215 (Wed), COM-STR2).

Draw near to your Heavenly Father. Draw near to Jesus.

The Savior's eyes are filled with love for you (JRE Link, 2018-0304 (Sun), COM-STR2).

Heavenly Father, help me to pray with the faith of a child, with humble little prayers,
with impassioned little prayers (JRE Link, 2017-0213 (Mon), COM-STR2).

Heavenly Father, what a wonderful, beloved Son you have! Help all of us on earth to be
just like him.

The Intercessory Prayer by the Savior—showing the world an example of what serious
prayer to the Father is like. The most sacred words in all scripture.

My lips were made for speaking humble and beautiful prayers to God (JRE Link, 2017-0618 (Sun), WSE-MAIN).

The Spirit takes part in beautiful prayers (JRE Link, 2021-0503 (Mon), WSE-MAIN).

The hopes and dreams of the righteous are articulated in prayer.

Share the burdens of the needy every night through prayer––powerful, heartfelt prayer (JRE Link, 2017-0827 (Sun), COM-STR2).

Kneel before God. Kneel before the glory of God.

Hide from the world on your knees in peaceful prayer.

You will find me on my knees praying.

The peace of God does not need to be a fleeting thing. If we pray often, it can be long-
lasting. It can be everlasting.

Give the words of God prominence in your mind. Never erase them (JRE Link, 2017-0316 (Thu), COM-STR2).

The words of God are sweet to those who know and love Him (JRE Link, 2017-0120 (Fri), COM-STR2).
